Forum: oldtimeradio Subject: OTR - Best Playback settings in VLC media player

I wasn't happy with the audio playback on my Windows PC for most OTR shows. They sounded "tinny".
.
After playing with settings in "VLC media player" (ver 2.1.4 Ricewind), a free and open source media player, I found that the following settings give a richer, warmer playback sound for most OTR recordings:
.
On the VLC player menu bar, select:
.
TOOLS; EFFECTS AND FILTERS; AUDIO EFFECTS tab;
GRAPHIC EQUALIZER tab; Check ENABLE; Check 2PASS; Select PRESET - POP;
Select COMPRESSOR tab; Check ENABLE; Select CLOSE.
I went with the defaults on all of the slide-bar controls.
.
Everyone's listening tastes are different, so your mileage may vary.
